2017 Age Group Worlds, from Agnes, 3

Today was a really long day. The U19 girls played three games - all of them were great games and they played impressively. Both Australia and South Africa were intimidating teams and the USA girls made them work hard for each and every goal. Unfortunately, the USA remained scoreless in those games, but kept SA at 5 points and AUS at 4 points. The Australians scored three of their 4 points in the first 10 minutes and then scored only 1 more point in the last 20 minutes. It was very impressive. A third game was against Great Britain and the USA girls played a beautiful game and won that 5 - 0.

Scores for all of the games played today can be found here: https://sportsdesq.sportstg.com/portal/index.cfm?fuseaction=main&OrgID=1...

The U23 played only one game. Once again, we travel around the world to play against Canada… But we WON!!! The final score was 4 - 1. Canada had three goals denied by the refs and was very close to scoring on several occasions. It was a crazy game.

I had my first shot at commentary today. Interesting… I was very glad to have support from Samuel and from Stuart. I don’t think I would have handled it well on my own. I haven’t listened to the GBR vs USA game, but I did watch the USA AUS game and my mike cut out for a large portion of the game. I’ll try and make sure I do better next time! It was a little distracting to do the commentary with Stuart because he recently broke his leg rather badly and he has to keep it elevated. By the time the last game came around, he had to lie down on the floor and do commentary from there while he kept his leg raised. Having a “conversation” while he was on the floor and watch the screens on the table was a new twist, but he’s a great commentator and made it a fun “job”.

The nefarious duck-snatchers returned the duck and it swam in the pool with the U23 boys during their game against Canada. Spirits are high and USA is happy to be here! I will let Holland do the reporting on the U19 boys.

USA has a great group of kids and parents and coaches here in Tasmania. It is an honor to be a part of Team USA.

Our game with Argentina is not until 5:10 pm so we take the boys on an optional cruise around the Bay of Hobart. It's bitter cold and we're the only people on the boat.

Our 10:40 am game is with the Brits. They beat New Zealand 5 - 2. I consider this an upset and know that our boys will have their hands full.
